Dice on holiday...
Dice had the most exclusive and exciting holiday any dog could wish for. First stop was Cape Town where he met up with the rest of the family whom he only sees about three times a year. He was welcomed with exuberant excitement by our other young Border and the two of them where pretty much saliva coated for the rest of our time there, as the playing had no end. After about two weeks the two of us hit the long road to Namibia.

In Oranjemund Dice tried to swim across the mouth of the mighty Orange River, not caring a bit about the raging tide and extremely strong currents that washes into the sea for several kilometers...all for the beautiful white pelicans shining like diamonds on the South African side...and of course he couldn’t understand my near heart attack at all! Other highlights were racing about in the endless sand and up and down dunes, until he was a tiny speck, together with his new Doberman sidekick belonging to my cousin, and not to mention the game watching!

From here we went to Luderitz with my cousin and her Dobe. Dice had the opportunity to chase a jackal from camp, and almost swam with dolphins as he tried his best to leave our kayak in a hurry when they rose for air and cleared their blowholes right next to us. Luckily it stayed at just watching dolphins, although, he was not nearly as mesmerized by their presence as I was. He visited the historical Diaz Point and lived on the wild side in our primitive camp site, not seeing fences for the whole time we were there. He loved it! He ran on a different beach everyday, devoid of people and buildings, only sea birds and the wind to keep us company.

Turning back South we stopped to catch a glimpse of the legendary wild horses of the Namib, and were fortunate enough to see the whole herd as they came in to quench their thirst at a water hole.

Our last stop before heading back to Cape Town, was to camp next to a forgotten stretch of the Orange river where we were the only people for miles. Here we could start the slow process of getting sand out of fur and run freshwater over our bodies.

This was an absolutely unforgettable holiday…but we are already planning the one for next year!!...
